Every MikroTik device ships on this address, from the small hEX and hAP units through to rackmount Cloud Core routers. It is effectively a signature: nothing else in common use occupies it.
MikroTik is a different proposition from a consumer router. The browser interface, WebFig, is only one of three ways in — there is also Winbox, a Windows application that connects over MAC address and therefore works even when the IP configuration is broken, and a full command line over SSH. RouterOS exposes far more than a home router and is correspondingly easier to misconfigure.

192.168.88.1 not opening?
If the address does not respond, use Winbox and connect by MAC address instead. That path works regardless of what the IP settings have been changed to, which is why it exists.
