Netgear Router Login at 192.168.0.1
Netgear routers — the Nighthawk and Orbi lines, and the older WNR and R series — use 192.168.0.1 as their default gateway, with routerlogin.net pointing at the same panel.
Getting into the Netgear panel
Enter http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar. The username is admin and the default password is password, spelled out in full.
Netgear pushes you to change this on first login, and the prompt is worth taking seriously: admin / password is probably the most widely published credential pair in consumer networking. It appears in manuals, on support forums, and in every automated scanner that probes home networks.
Nighthawk, Orbi and the app
Both ranges can be managed from a phone app as well as the browser panel, but the two are not equivalent.
The app is more convenient
Fine for routine changes — renaming the network, checking who is connected, pausing a device.
The browser exposes more
Port forwarding, dynamic DNS and access control are browser-only on several models.
Orbi has a hierarchy
You log in to the router, not the satellites. Changes propagate outward to them automatically.
Firmware is manual
Under ADVANCED › Administration. Netgear’s automatic updates are inconsistent across models, so check by hand.
Forgotten the admin password?
Netgear is unusual in offering a genuine recovery path. If you enabled password recovery when you first set the router up, the login page offers a Cancel button that leads to your security questions.
If you never enabled it — which is the common case, since it is off by default — a factory reset is the only route back in. Hold Reset for seven to ten seconds until the power light blinks. The defaults return, including admin / password, and your Wi-Fi configuration is erased along with everything else.
